France also claimed a part of Antarctica: Adelieland. Well-known sights in France are: Arles, Nimes, Mont-Saint-Michel in Brittany, the Alps, the Jura mountains, the Pyrenees and the city of Paris. In the capital, the most famous sights are the Eiffel Tower, Montparnasse, the banks of the River Seine, the Louvre with the Mona Lisa, Centre Pompidou, the Latin Quarter and Montmartre neighborhoods, the Champs Elysees, the Arc de Triomph, and the Sacre Coeur the Nôtre Dame.
