Portugal : Portugal is the country in Europe that is positioned mostly western (in continental Europe). Portugal and Spain together form the Iberian Peninsula. The capital of Portugal is Lisbon. The Portuguese volcanic island of Madeira (also known as flower island), is located off the coast of Morocco. The Azores archipelago, consisting of 9 Islands (Sao Miguel, Corvo, Flores, Terceira, Graciosa, Sao Jorge, Pico, Faial and Santa Maria) in the Atlantic Ocean also belong to Portugal. Sightseeing for travel or holidays: Lisbon (Castelo Sao Jorge, Alfama Moorish quarter), Porto (with nineteen iron bridges over the River Douro), Serra da Estrela, Évora (UNESCO World heritage), the popular Algarve coastal region (with resorts Albufeira, Praia da Rocha, Faro, Praia da Oura and Tavira) and luxury beach resorts Estoril and Cascais.
