Travel information about vacation/holiday in Russian Federation
Russia (also known as Russian Federation) is the largest country in the world and is located on two continents, Asia and Europe. The capital is Moscow. Things to visit for holiday or travel: Moscow (the largest city in Europe with Russian Orthodox cathedrals, Maria-message cathedral, Basilius cathedral) or St. Petersburg (with the Winter palace or Hermitage Museum, the Stroganov Palace and the St. Isaaks cathedral), a river cruise on the Volga, Siberia where it can be -72 ˚ C in the city Oymyakon and the Golden Ring route (along Vladimir, Suzdal, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Rostov Velikiy, Pereslavl-Zalesskiy and Sergiev Posad). It is also an enormous experience to take the train along the more than 8000 kilometres long route of the Trans-Siberian Express from Moscow to Vladivostok along the clear Baikalmeer. This trip takes 7 days and passes 10 time zones.
A map is a simplified depiction of a space, a navigational aid which highlights relations between objects within that space. Most usually a map is a two-dimensional, geometrically accurate representation of a three-dimensional space. The science and art of map-making is cartography; see that page for further discussion of the history of maps and map-making.
