Travel information about vacation/holiday in Slovenia
Republic of Slovenia is situated in the Alps and bordered by Austria, Italy, the Adriatic Sea (with the Slovenian Riviera), Croatia and Hungary. The capital is Ljubljana. In 1991, Slovenia became independent after the Ten-Day War and the Agreement of Brioni. On May 1, 2004 Slovenia became a member of the European Union and later of NATO. The country has a lot of natural beauty, ranging from rivers (Soca) to the Triglav National Park with the glacier lakes of Bled and Bohinj. Sights are further: the Vrsic Pass, with towns like Tolmin and Kobarid, the caves (Postojna), the caves of Skocjan, Lipica (with the Lipizzaner horses), Hrastovlje (church with frescoes), Novo Mesto, Brezice, Kostanjevica, Savinja , Maribor, Ptuj and the region around Murska Sobota.
A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging, usually on a short-term basis. Hotels often provide a number of additional guest services such as a restaurant, a swimming pool or childcare. Some hotels have conference services and meeting rooms and encourage groups to hold conventions and meetings at their location. Hotels differ from motels in that most motels have drive-up, exterior entrances to the rooms, while hotels tend to have interior entrances to the rooms, which may increase guests' safety and present a more upmarket image.
