A guide book is a book for tourists or travelers that provides details about a geographic location, tourist destination, or itinerary. It is the written equivalent of a tour guide. It will usually include details, such as phone numbers, addresses, prices, and reviews of hotels and other lodgings, restaurants, and activities. Maps of varying detail are often included. Sometimes historical and cultural information is also provided. Different guide books may focus on different aspects of travel, from adventure travel to relaxation, or be aimed at travellers with larger or smaller travel budgets. Guidebooks can have factual problems, information may be out of date (especially for regions undergoing rapid development), the author may have a hidden agenda (for example free meals or rooms in exchange for inclusion in the book or a favorable review -- compare tout). Guide books are generally intended to be used in conjunction with actual travel, although simply enjoying a guide book with no intention of visiting may be referred to as "armchair tourism".

Cyprus is an island in the Mediterranean Sea at about 70 km south of Turkey and about 100 km west of Syria. Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus is a republic. Nicosia (Lefkosia) is the capital of Cyprus. From 1974 in the north of the island exists the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (this part is only recognized by Turkey). It is believed that the goddess Aphrodite was born on Cyprus. She is the Greek goddess of fertility, love and physical beauty. Cyprus is a popular holiday destination because of its beautiful beaches and the various attractions. Especially the Troodos Mountains is worth a visit. Other sights on Cyprus are: the Archeological museum in Pafos, Kourion ancient theater at Limassol, the Tombs of the Kings necropolis in Pafos, the mosaic from the 2nd century in Paphos and amathus (remains of the kingdom between Larnaka and Limassol). Eating on Cyprus has a lot of Greek influences, but called often different. Typical dishes are meze (a kind of tapas), afelia, tava and kleftiko. The Cypriot wine is recommended together with the Cypriot Keo beer.
