A map is a simplified depiction of a space, a navigational aid which highlights relations between objects within that space. Most usually a map is a two-dimensional, geometrically accurate representation of a three-dimensional space. Poland is a country in Central Europe, with Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine and Russia as neighbours. Poland is a member of the European Union. The capital of Poland is Warsaw (in Polish Warszawa). Warsaw has been completely destroyed during the Second World War. Today Warsaw is a modern and vibrant city with a reconstructed medieval city centre. Sightseeing for travel or holidays in the city: the royal palace, the Łazienki palace, Wilanów palace. Other sights in Poland: Krakow (the Kazimierz district, where the term ghetto originates), the former German concentration camps Auschwitz and Birkenau, the salt mine of Wieliczka, hanzestad Gdańsk, Masuria, monastery of Święta Lipka, Wroclaw and Poznan (with the Muzeum Narodowy and the national museum).
